NOISE GATE SHOWDOWN: Boss NS-2 vs. MXR Noise Clamp
INTRO:
This test is for two pedal-format sidechain noise gates. To my knowledge, there are 3 pedal-format side-chain noise gates available today, the Boss NS-2, The ISP Technologies Decimator G-String, and the MXR Noise Clamp. This test evaluates the Boss and MXR units.
I’ve always had a deep fascination and respect for the guitar players (and other musicians) who play in the bands on late night TV. (It started with G.E. Smith, who lead the SNL band from 85-95).
Much to my delight, Premier Guitar is running a feature on late night players, including gear-geek video gear rundowns.
I have always felt that the true luxury in life is to have great relationships with the people that elevate daily existence from drudgery to pleasure. Even if it is only in a cup of coffee, someone who knows his barista and is known by him, who can get that perfect shot of espresso exactly as he likes it with only a nod of the head and passing a few coins, he is richer than anyone with billions in the bank but not the time to meet the man who makes his coffee.
